The Ganges River Project positions the audience between the wild beauty of the Ganges River and the spiraling impact of industrial and human waste on the local environment. The experience takes viewers on a journeys to the holy temples of Varanasi and witnesses, firsthand, the battle between nature and human pollution.
The experience was shot along the Ganges River from the holy temples of Varanasi, to the industrial wasteland of Kanpur, and the wild beauty at the Ganges’ source. It documents the effects of human and industrial waste on the river while revealing its holiest and most majestic sites; the contrast between them points to the cultural and bureaucratic barriers to cleaning-up the river and points to ways the Indian government might overcome them.
